USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – July 12, 2010

 

A regular meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to order by President Keith Ritchey at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 12, 2010, at the District Office.   Other members present were Greg Hite, Mindy Dainty, Tara Underwood, Jerry Alexander, LaDonna Hartman and Joe Ulery.  Also present were Superintendent Glenn Fortmayer and Board Clerk Roberta Sellers.  


(1) Joe Ulery moved to approve the agenda as amended.  Jerry Alexander seconded.  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Pledge              (2) LaDonna Hartman moved to approve the policy for the Pledge of Allegiance and

Policy              Moment of Silence. (Appendix A)  Tara Underwood seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Underwood      (3) Greg Hite moved to elect Tara Underwood President of the school board for the

Pres.                 2010-11 school year.  Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 6-1.

 

Alexander        (4) Keith Ritchey moved to elect Jerry Alexander Vice President of the school board for

Vice Pres.        the 2010-11 school year.  Greg Hite seconded.  Motion carried 6-1.

 

(5)  Joe Ulery moved to approve the minutes of the June 14, 2010 meeting. Mindy Dainty seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

(6) Greg Hite  moved to approve the bills totaling $45,825.18 and open P.O.’s due in July totaling approximately $143,000.  Joe Ulery seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

 GAAP            (7) Greg Hite moved to approve the GAAP Waiver as presented.

Waiver             (Appendix B)  Keith Ritchey seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Laptop             (8) Joe Ulery moved to increase the laptop fee for the reduced students in proportion to red. Fee      the price of a reduced lunch amount.  Greg Hite seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Reorg.             (9)  Jerry Alexander moved to approve the reorganization list as amended.

List                  (Appendix C).  Keith Ritchey seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Trans.              (10) Greg Hite moved to approve the transportation handbook, emergency procedures,

Materials          training manual and the parent and student guide for transportation.  Keith Ritchey seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

BOE &             (11) Joe Ulery moved to adopt the BOE polices and handbooks for the 2010-11 year.

Handbooks      Mindy Dainty seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Calendar          (12) Jerry Alexander moved to change the dates of enrollment to August 4th through

Change            6th.  LaDonna Hartman seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

                       

Destroy           (13) LaDonna Hartman moved to adopt the resolution to destroy files prior to July

Files                 1, 2005. (Appendix D) Mindy Dainty seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Classified         (14) Jerry Alexander moved to approve the classified work agreement as presented.

Work Agr.        Greg Hite seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

                        (15) LaDonna Hartman moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel and student issues for twenty minutes to reconvene at 8:00 pm.  Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

 

President Underwood called the meeting back to order.

 

(16)  Joe Ulery moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel and student issues for fifteen minutes to reconvene at 8:16 pm.  LaDonna Hartman seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

President Underwood called the meeting back to order.

 

(17) Keith Ritchey moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel and student issues for twenty minutes to reconvene at 8:42 pm.  Mindy Dainty seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.  

 

President Underwood called the meeting back to order.

 

(18) Jerry Alexander moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel and student issues for ten minutes to reconvene at 8:55 pm.  Mindy Dainty seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

President Underwood called the meeting back to order.

 

(19) Tara Underwood moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel and student issues for fifteen minutes to reconvene at 9:10 pm.   LaDonna Hartman seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

President Underwood called for a five minute break.

Geier                (20) Per the administration’s recommendation, Greg Hite  moved to hire Brenda Geier

English             as an English teacher for the district for the 2010-11 school year.  LaDonna Hartman seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Trans.              (21) Per Dr. Fortmayer’s recommendation, Joe Ulery moved to hire Randy Gates as the Positions            Transportation Director and Korey Kimrey as the Assistant Transportation Director. 

                        Keith Ritchey seconded.  Motion carried 7-0. 

 

Public              (22) Jerry Alexander moved to adopt the policy for public forum as presented, effective

Forum  Pol.      with the August 9, 2010 meeting.  Mindy Dainty seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

 

SE                    (23) Greg Hite moved to accept the bid from CDL in the amount of $4,950 to fix the

ductwork         A/C ductwork at Southeast High School.  Joe Ulery seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.
