Board Meeting 10/13/2008
USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – October 13, 2008
A regular meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to order by President Greg Hite at 6:30 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2008, at the District Office. Other members present were Denise Grasso, Keith Ritchey, Alan Rogers, Troy Smith and Tara Underwood. Also present were Superintendent Tim Burns, and Board Clerk Roberta Sellers.
(1) Keith Ritchey moved to approve the agenda as amended.
Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(2) Alan Rogers moved to approve the minutes of the September 8, 2008 meeting. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(3) Troy Smith moved to approve the bills in the amount of $192,858.36. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Mindy Dainty arrived.
Reinstate (4) Tara Underwood moved to reinstate 8th grade graduation. Denise Grasso
8th grad. seconded. Motion carried 6-1.
(5) Troy Smith moved to go into Executive Session for consultation with our attorneys on a matter protected by the attorney-client privilege for 10 min. to reconvene at 7:20 pm. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Hite called the meeting back to order.
(6) Troy Smith moved to go into Executive Session for consultation with our attorneys on a matter protected by the attorney-client privilege for 5 min. to reconvene at 7:26 pm. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
One 8th (7) Alan Rogers moved to have a combined 8th grade graduation at Southeast High
Grade Grad. School. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 4-3.
Asst. Girls (8) Per the administration’s recommendation, Alan Rogers moved to hire Nick G.
Basketball Cheney and Carla Proctor as assistant girls basketball coaches. Denise Grasso
Coaches seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Display at (9) Troy Smith moved to approve a budget not to exceed $1700 for the front hall
High school display at Southeast High School to report events, news and other informational items. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(10) Greg Hite moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters for 30 minutes to reconvene at 8:10pm with the option of calling in individuals. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(11) Tara Underwood moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters for 30 minutes to reconvene at 8:41pm with the option of calling in individuals. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(12) Troy Smith moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters for 30 minutes to reconvene at 9:12pm with the option of calling in individuals. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

30 minutes to reconvene at 9:43pm with the option of calling in individuals. Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(14) Troy Smith moved to adjourn at 9:55 p.m. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
