Board Meeting Minutes 5/11/2009

USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – May 11, 2009

A regular meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to order by President Greg Hite at 6:30 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2009 at the District Office. Other members present were Denise Grasso, Keith Ritchey, Alan Rogers, Troy Smith, and Tara Underwood. Also present were Superintendent Tim Burns, Board Treasurer Bridget Ritchey and Board Clerk Roberta Sellers.

(1) Troy Smith moved to approve the agenda as amended. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

(2) Alan Rogers moved to approve the minutes of the April 13, 28, and 30, 2009 meetings. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

(3) Alan Rogers moved to approve the bills in the amount of $166,499.19. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

(4) Tara Underwood moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters & student issues for 15 minutes to reconvene at 7:15pm. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

President Hite called the meeting back to order.

Eaton (5) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Greg Hite moved to accept Gloria Eaton’s retirement retirement letter as elementary librarian with thanks for her 12 years of service.

Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

Margaret (6) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to accept Margaret

Geier Geier’s retirement letter as a Paraprofessional at Cherokee Grade School. The

Retirement board would like to thank her for her 25 years of service. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

Coaches (7) Per Mr. Proctor’s recommendation, Alan Rogers moved to hire the fall and

2009-10 winter coaches for the 2009-10 school year as presented. (Appendix A). Tara

Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

Webster (8) Per the administration’s recommendation, Keith Ritchey moved to hire Nikki English Webster as an English Teacher at Southeast High School for the 2009-10 school

At HS year. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

Kerr (9) Per the administration’s recommendation, Troy Smith moved to reassign

Kind. Dawn Kerr to Kindergarten at the McCune Attendance Center for the 2009-10 school year. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

Forgive (10) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Troy Smith moved to forgive the inclement

Weather Weather days for all staff members. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6

Days -0.

(11) Denise Grasso moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters for 5 minutes to reconvene at 7: 50 pm. Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

President Hite called the meeting back to order.

(12) Denise Grasso moved to adjourn at 7:55pm. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
