USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – June 8, 2009
A regular meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to order by President Greg Hite at 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2009 at the District Office. Other members present were Denise Grasso, Keith Ritchey, Mindy Dainty, Troy Smith, and Tara Underwood. Also present were Superintendent Tim Burns, and Board Clerk Roberta Sellers.
(1) Keith Ritchey moved to approve the agenda as presented.
Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(2) Tara Underwood moved to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2009 meeting. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(3) Denise Grasso moved to approve the bills in the amount of $66,925.84. Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(4) Troy Smith moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters 20 minutes to reconvene at 7:25pm. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
President Hite called the meeting back to order.
(5) Troy Smith moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters, student issues, and negotiations for 10 minutes to reconvene at 7:55pm. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

(6) Greg Hite moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters, student issues, and negotiations for 10 minutes to reconvene at 8:10 pm. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.

Ritchey (7) Per administration’s recommendation, Greg Hite moved to accept Bridget
resign Ritchey’s resignation letter as Secretary-Treasurer with thanks for her 5 years of service. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 5-1, the one abstaining.
Hardeman (8) Per administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to accept Greg
Resign Hardeman’s resignation as a Bus Driver. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Burdette (9) Per administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to accept Bryan
Track resign Burdette’s resignation as Head Track coach for the 2009-10 school year at Southeast
High School. Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Emerson (10) Per the administration’s recommendation, Troy Smith moved to hire Sara Emerson as a Social Studies at Southeast hire High School for the 2009-10 school
year. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Sellers (11) Per the administration’s recommendation, Tara Underwood moved to hire
Acct. Roberta Sellers as the Accountant for the school district for the 2009-10 year. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Solomon (12) Per administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to hire Linda
Tech director Solomon as the Technology Director for the 2009-10 school year. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
H. Smith (13) Per the administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to hire
Food Serv Harriett Smith as Food Service Director for the 2009-10 school year. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 5-1, the one abstaining.
Chadd (14) Per the administration’s recommendation, Troy Smith moved to hire
non renew Doug Chadd as the Maintance Director for the 2009-10 school year. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion failed 3-3.
Imhof (15) Per the administration’s recommendation, Troy Smith moved to hire Brent
Maint. Imhof as a maintenance worker for the 2009-10 school year. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Horgan (16) Per the administration’s recommendation, Tara Underwood moved to hire
Maint. Bryan Horgan as a maintenance worker for the 2009-10 school year. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Biancarelli (17) Per the administration’s recommendation, Troy Smith moved to hire Craig
Grounds Biancarelli as the district groundskeeper for the 2009-10 school year. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Stevens (18) Per the administration’s recommendation, Troy Smith moved to hire Kent
Non renew Stevens as the Transportation Director for the 2009-10 school year. Denise Grasso
seconded. Motion failed 3-3.
Kimrey (19) Per the administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to hire Korey
Trans. Kimrey as the Transportation Assistant for the 2009-10 school year. Tara
Assist. Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Summer (20) Per the administration’s recommendation, Greg Hite moved to approve the
Workers summer weight’s coaches and summer workers per the presented list. (Appendix A)
Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Classified (21) Per the administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to hire all
Workers classified personnel as listed. (Appendix B) Tara Underwood seconded. Motion
2009-10 carried 6-0.
Huff (22) Per the administration’s recommendation, Greg Hite moved to non renew
Non renew Colleen Huff as an At-Risk Tutor at the Cherokee Grade School for the 2009-10
School year. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Jr. High (23) Per the administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to hire the
Supp. Supplemental coaches for the Jr. High fall and winter sports as presented.
Fall & winter (Appendix C). Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 5-1, the one abstaining.
Cheney (24) Per the administration’s recommendation, Mindy Dainty moved to hire Megan
JH Cheer Cheney as the Jr. High Cheerleading sponsor for the 2009-10 school year. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(25) Troy Smith moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters for 10 minutes to reconvene at 9:00 pm. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried
6-0.
It was announced that there will be a special board meeting on June 22, 2009 at 7 pm.
(26) Denise Grasso moved to adjourn at 9:21 pm. Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
