Board Meeting Minutes 6/22/2009
USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – June 22, 2009
A special meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to order by President Greg Hite at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2009, at the District Office. Other members present were Keith Ritchey, Alan Rogers, Troy Smith, Mindy Dainty and Denise Grasso. Also present were Superintendent Tim Burns, Treasurer Bridget Ritchey, and Board Clerk Roberta Sellers.
(1) Keith Ritchey moved to approve the agenda as
presented. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried
6-0.
(2) Troy Smith moved to go into executive session for 30 minutes to discuss student issues, to reconvene at 7:33 pm. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
Tara Underwood arrived.
President Hite called the meeting back to order.
(3) Tara Underwood moved to go into executive session for 60 minutes to discuss student issues, to reconvene at 8:35 pm. Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Hite called the meeting back to order.
(4) Troy Smith moved to go into executive session for 45 minutes to discuss student issues, to reconvene at 9:20 pm. Denise Grasso seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Hite called the meeting back to order.
(5) Denise Grasso moved to go into executive session for 15 minutes to discuss student issues, to reconvene at 9:36 pm. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Troy Smith left the meeting.
President Hite called the meeting back to order.
(6) Alan Rogers moved to go into executive session for 20 minutes to discuss student issues, to reconvene at 10:01 pm. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
President Hite called the meeting back to order.
Troy Smith came back to the meeting.
(7) Tara Underwood moved to go into executive session for 10 minutes to discuss student issues and personnel, to reconvene at 10:30 pm. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(8) Denise Grasso moved to approve the board minutes of the June 8, 2009 board meeting. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(9) Denise Grasso moved to approve the bills in the amount of $23,416.71. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Colvin (10) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Troy Smith moved to transfer Mary Colvin to
McCune the McCune Jr. High. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Mitchell (11) Per the administration’s recommendation, Denise Grasso moved to hire
Music Amanda Mitchell as the Music Teacher for the McCune and Weir Attendance Centers. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Mechanic (12) Keith Ritchey moved to hire a mechanic to work in the transportation
Transport. department with the pay to commensurate with experience. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 5-2.
Year-End (13) Denise Grasso moved to authorize Tim to make any necessary encumberances
to finish out the fiscal year. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Student (14) Alan Rogers moved to follow the prior committee’s ruling on the student issue.
issue Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 6-1 with the one abstaining.
(15) Denise Grasso moved to adjourn at 10:47 pm. Alan Rogers and Troy Smith seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
