Board Meeting Minutes 7/13/2009
USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – July 13, 2009
A regular meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to
order by President Greg Hite at 6:30 p.m., Monday, July 13, 2009,
at the District Office. Other members present were Tara Underwood,
Keith Ritchey, Mindy Dainty, LaDonna Hartman, Jerry Alexander, and
Joe Ulery. Also present were Superintendent Tim Burns and Board
Clerk Roberta Sellers.
(1) Mindy Dainty moved to elect Keith Ritchey as Board President
for the 2009-10 school year. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion
carried 7-0.
(2) Keith Ritchey moved to elect Tara Underwood Vice President for
the 2009-10 school year. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 6-1,
the one abstaining.
(3) Greg Hite moved to approve the agenda as amended. Jerry
Alexander seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(4) Tara Underwood moved to approve the minutes of the June 22,
2009 meeting. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(5) Greg Hite moved to approve the bills totaling $264,208.44.
Jerry Alexander seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(6) LaDonna Hartman moved to approve the GAAP Waiver as
presented.
(Appendix A) Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(7) Joe Ulery moved to approve the Out-of-District students as
presented. (Appendix B) LaDonna Hartman seconded. Motion carried
7-0.
(8) Greg Hite moved to go into Executive Session to discuss
personnel issues for 20 min. to reconvene at 7:24 pm. Tara
Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Ritchey called the meeting back to order.
(9) Tara Underwood moved to go into Executive Session to discuss
personnel issues for 20 min. to reconvene at 7:50 pm. Joe Ulery
seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Ritchey called the meeting back to order.
(10) Greg Hite moved to go into Executive Session to discuss
personnel issues for 20 min. to reconvene at 8:10 pm. Joe Ulery
seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(11) Greg Hite moved to go into Executive Session to discuss
personnel issues for 20 min. to reconvene at 8:30 pm. Tara
Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Ritchey called the meeting back to order.
(12) Tara Underwood moved to go into Executive Session to discuss
personnel issues for 20 min. to reconvene at 8:55 pm. Joe Ulery
seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(13) LaDonna Hartman moved to go into Executive Session to discuss
personnel issues and negotiations for 10 min. to reconvene at 9:10
pm. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(14) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Joe Ulery moved to hire Cindy
Alexander in the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the school
district. Jerry Alexander seconded. Motion failed 3-3.
(15) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Tara Underwood moved to hire
Rita Mitchell in
the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the school district. Keith
Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 4-2.
(16) Per the administration’s recommendation, Tara Underwood moved
to hire
Rosemary Pender as a half-time Physical Education/half-time At-Risk
Tutor at
McCune grade school. Joe Ulery seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(17) Keith Ritchey moved to transfer Mike Main per Mr. Turnbull’s
recommendation.
Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(18) Per Mr. Squire’s recommendation, Tara Underwood moved to
transfer staff
members as presented. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried
6-0.
(19) Jerry Alexander moved to hold a special meeting on July 23,
2009 at 6:30pm.
LaDonna Hartman seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(20) Joe Ulery moved to approve the reorganization list as amended
(Appendix C).
Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried. 6-0.
(21) Mindy Dainty moved to adopt the resolution to destroy files as
presented.
(Appendix D) Jerry Alexander seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(22) Tara Underwood moved to go into executive session to discuss a
student issue for 5 minutes to reconvene at 10:15 pm. LaDonna
Hartman seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
(23) Joe Ulery moved to adjourn at 10:15 p.m. Jerry Alexander
seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
