Board Meeting Minutes 8/10/2009
USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – August 10, 2009
A regular meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to order by President Keith Ritchey at 6:33 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2009, at the District Office. Other members present were Tara Underwood, Mindy Dainty, Jerry Alexander, Greg Hite, LaDonna Hartman, and Joe Ulery. Also present were Superintendent, Tim Burns and Board Clerk, Roberta Sellers.
(1) LaDonna Hartman moved to approve the agenda as amended.
Joe Ulery seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(2) LaDonna Hartman moved to approve the minutes of the July 13, 2009 meeting. Keith Ritchey seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(3) Jerry Alexander moved to approve the bills in the amount of $188,374.73 including the Special Education payment that is due on September 1st. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(4) Greg Hite moved to hire Dr. Howard Smith to assist in a search for a new
superintendent. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(5) Greg Hite moved to accept the roofing bid from Murphy roofing by R & P
Enterprises for $86,675, using 80 mil single ply membrane roof system. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(6) Joe Ulery moved to approve the additional Out of District students, Ashley
Orender and Ariell Meyer. LaDonna Hartman seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(7) Tara Underwood moved to amend the high school student handbook by
eliminating the work release option. LaDonna Hartman seconded. Motion carried 7 7-0.
(8) Tara Underwood moved to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel and student issues for 30 min. to reconvene at 8:50 pm. Joe Ulery seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Ritchey called the meeting back to order.
(9) Greg Hite moved to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel issues for 10 min. to reconvene at 9:30 pm. LaDonna Hartman seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(10) Per administration’s recommendation, LaDonna Hartman moved to hire Mike
Bowman as Southeast head girls softball coach for the spring 2010 season. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-1.
(11) Per adminstration’s recommendation, Keith Ritchey moved to hire Vic Colvin
as Southeast head boys baseball coach for the spring 2010 season. Joe Ulery
seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(12) Per administration’s recommendation, Greg Hite moved to hire Korey Kimrey
Southeast head track coach for the spring 2010 season. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(13) Per administration’s recommendation, Tara Underwood moved to hire Luke
Witt as the Southeast head Golf coach, provided there is adequate participation for the spring 2010 season. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 6-1.
(14) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Mindy Dainty moved to hire the list of bus
drivers as presented. (Appendix A) Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 6-1, the one abstaining.
(15) Per administration’s recommendation, Joe Ulery moved to hire Colleen Renn
as a Paraprofessional at Southeast High School for the 2009-10 school year. Mindy
Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Their will be a special meeting on August 31, 2009 at 6:30 pm.
Freshman only will be at the high school on August 13, 2009.
(16) Jerry Alexander moved to adjourn at 10:00 p.m. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
