Incredible Edible Cells

As a part of the cell unit, Mr. Hull's 6th grade Science students had to create an animal or plant cell out of food. Each student had his or her choice of what cell they created. The main objectives of the cells were they had to be made from edible items and that they had to have all the correct parts of the cell discussed in class. The purpose of this project was to take their knowledge of cells learned in the classroom and use their knowledge at home. The cells were graded on creativity, spelling and grammar of their key, and if their cells contained all the correct parts. This project allowed the students to understand what parts are in animal and plant cells as well as special characteristics of the parts. When being assessed on cells and their functions the students will hopefully be able to make the connection of their edible cell with a real cell!!!  (Click on the picture to see all of the students with their cells)
