Board Meeting Minutes 3/8/2010
USD # 247 BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING – March 8, 2010
A regular meeting of the USD #247 Board of Education was called to order by President Keith Ritchey at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 8, 2010, at the District Office. Other members present were Greg Hite, Mindy Dainty, Jerry Alexander, and Joe Ulery. Also present were Superintendent Tim Burns and Board Clerk Roberta Sellers.
(1) Mindy Dainty moved to approve the agenda as presented. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
(2) Joe Ulery moved to approve the minutes of the February 8, 2010 meeting. Jerry Alexander seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
Tara Underwood and LaDonna Hartman arrived.
(3) Jerry Alexander moved to approve the bills totaling $120,347.62. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(4) Greg Hite moved to approve the 2010-11 school calendar as presented( see Appendix A). Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(5) Joe Ulery moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel for twenty minutes to reconvene at 8:17 pm. Jerry Alexander seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
President Ritchey called the meeting back to order.
(6) Jerry Alexander moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel for fifteen minutes to reconvene at 8:35 pm. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(7) Tara Underwood moved to go into Executive Session to discuss non-elected personnel for ten minutes to reconvene at 8:45 pm. Mindy Dainty seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

(8) Per the administration’s recommendation, Keith Ritchey moved to accept the
resignation/retirement of Wayne Cameron effective with the end of the 2009-10 school year. The board would like to thank Mr. Cameron for his years of service and they wish him well. Jerry Alexander seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(9) Per Mr. Burns’ recommendation, Greg Hite moved to accept the
resignation/retirement of Judy Tilley effective with the end of the 2009-10 school year. The board would like to thank Mrs. Tilley for her many, many years of service and they wish her well. Tara Underwood seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
(10) Per the administration’s recommendation, Jerry Alexander moved to accept the resignation of Darci Donovan as Assistant Jr. High Track coach for the 2010 season. Mindy Dainty seconded.
(11) Tara Underwood moved to give the high school administration approval to apply for a tier two improvement grant. Jerry Alexander seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Under discussion items, it was the consensus of the board to allow the Amish to demolish the McCune Bus Barn for materials.
The board will be putting the Waterstone building in Cherokee up for sealed bids. Details will be listed through various avenues, including our website.
(12) Jerry Alexander moved to adjourn at 10:10 p.m. Greg Hite seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
