Parent Advisory Group Updates

Dear Southeast Parent,

As you may know, Southeast High School has been the recipient of a federal grant for the 2010-11, 2011-12, and 2012-13 school years.  This grant will provide many tools and opportunities for our students and staff in an effort to help improve our high school in a very dynamic and transformational way.  We are excited about the changes that have already taken place and the many opportunities that we have in the future to impact your child’s learning in a positive way.

One component of the grant includes the setting up of a parent advisory group that will meet at least four times during each school year.  Though this is a part of the school improvement grant, we see this as a great opportunity to improve communication between parents and our high school not only during the term of the grant but well into the future.  In order to make the highest level of change possible, we feel that there must be a partnership between our parents and our school.  We want to have a shared vision of where we can go together and how we can offer the best possible education for the current and future students of Southeast.

We will be scheduling our first two meetings on October 11 and November 17.  Both of these meetings will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the technology lab and will not last more than one hour.  If you have interest in being a part of this parent advisory group, please sign up at enrollment or call our office by September 9.  All parent advisory group meetings are meant to provide parents with information and also to offer parents an opportunity to share opinions on the direction and challenges of Southeast High School.

Our mission is to help make greatness attainable by all.  In order for us to do this, we need parental and community input and support.  We value ideas and thoughts from those who have the most invested in our schools.  We want our high school to be a point of pride for our community and to offer an education to our students that is second to none.  We are not there yet, but we are putting pieces in place that will help us reach that goal.

Please contact our office or email me directly if you would like to be a part of our parent advisory group for the 2011-2012 school year.

Respectfully,

Ben Proctor
